6Do not be anxious about anything,
but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving,
present your requests to God.
7And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding,
will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:6-7

22 Cast your cares on the LORD
and he will sustain you;
he will never let the righteous fall.
Psalm 55:22

Do Not Worry

25"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink;
or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes?
Matthew 6:25

17 Yet I am poor and needy;
may the Lord think of me.
You are my help and my deliverer;
O my God, do not delay.
Psalm 40:17

The LORD himself goes before you
and will be with you;
he will never leave you nor forsake you.
Do not be afraid;
do not be discouraged.”

Making a Deal with God???

I have tried giving my worries and problems to God but like a boomerang they kept coming back! I was truly after “Peace” that is beyond (transcends) all understanding. This scripture had made a big impression on me. But yet the understanding was not clear.

Unfortunately there have been times when I give my problems to God and God answers my prayers and without hardly saying thank you for all of the blessing God has given me. I am already asking for more! I have a new list of needs for God to consider.

Sometimes I feel like I am using God as a genie to fulfill my needs. Sometimes we take God so for granted that we feel like we can snap out fingers and God is at our command? A God Vending Machine… put a prayer in and $1.00 tithe and expected the prayer to be answered right-a-way! Your Way! It doesn’t work that way! We are here to serve God. God is not here to be our genie fulfilling our every wish.

Sometimes it is worse. Sometimes I can feel like “What have you done for me lately, Lord. I need help now! Trying to bargain and play “Let’s Make a Deal with God” always seems to be a losing situation. Trying to shame God into doing something for you is a very bad choice of tactics.

I have come to know that when I come to God and petition God with Prayers… I know that I am coming to God with naked empty hands. If I try to bargain with God. If I do XY&Z for me I will do ABC for you… I promise. God loves us but God knows very well how often we break our promises. God may answer your prayer petition but not because your angry, discouraged threatening suicide, or other idle threats to God. There is NO Way that we can force God’s hand to do what we want!

God’s will is directed by the Nature of God, which we find in Lord Jesus Christ. God will not answer our prayers from threats but only out of God’s Unconditional Love, Forgiveness, and Grace.

Another sad statement and predicament is when our prayers are not answered quickly enough to our liking in out of our frustration we “Blame” God for a prayer taking too long to come true. We can even get pretty self-righteous and full of ourselves when we scold God for not doing his part while insisting that we are living up to our part.

If we claim to be without sin,
we deceive ourselves
and the truth is not in us.

1 John 1:8-9
