Ask Seek Knock...

We have what we seek,
it is there all the time,
and if we give it time,
it will make itself known to us.
Thomas Merton

Ask, Seek, Knock

“Ask and it will be given to you;
seek and you will find;
knock and the door
will be opened for you.
For everyone who asks receives;
he who seeks finds;
and to him who knocks,
the door will be opened.

Matthew 7:7-8
Luke 11:9-10

and those who seek me find me.
Proverbs 8:17

"I revealed myself to those who did not ask for me;
I was found by those who did not seek me.
To a nation that did not call on my name,
I said, 'Here am I, here am I.'

All day long I have held out my hands
to an obstinate people,
who walk in ways not good,
pursuing their own imaginations-

21To him who overcomes, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I overcame and sat down with my Father on his throne.

22He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches."
Revelation 3:19-22

Open Hearts * Open Minds * Open Doors

This website “Bible Basics… Layers of Understanding” was named to correspond with our relationship with God. The closer our relationship with God the more intimate is our understanding of God.

At Bible Basics we believe that there are Layers of Understanding that have to be peeled away, there are veils that have to be lifted, clouds and fogs of confusion that must be cut through, and doors of understanding that must be opened.

These “Layers” these “Doors” are not obstacles put in our way by God!
At every door there is a “Welcome Mat” for us to ask, seek, and knock. These “layers” these “doors” are not closed to keep us out! God tells us to “Ask, Seek, Knock and the door (layers, veils, fog) will be opened. But for the door to be opened we must “Ask the right questions!”

We do not have to know what is inside the door.
There are no magic words that open the door.
No secret knock at the door.
But we need to ask the right questions!

To ask the right questions we must truly be seeking God; a closer relationship with God. The fog that seems to curtail our understanding is a part of the adventure, part of the pursuit, the journey of following God.

At Bible Basics we believe that if you believe that you have already found God and you already know all that there is, that you “Stop Looking!”
How can we possibly stop following Jesus Christ because we think that we already know Him? Jesus says, "Come Follow Me.” To follow Christ you have to MOVE; you cannot stand still at the door and not knock at the door. KNOCK! God is patiently waiting for you!

Yes, we are on a journey with Christ and the adventures are the traveling through the Wilderness with Him and cutting through those Layers and Doors of Understanding that Christ opens for us!

God may bring us to these doors but we are the ones who must make a decision to take action to open the doors.

“Ask, Seek, Knock and the door will be opened for you.”

For all of us there are many different doors. Each threshold we cross is an adventure! Where will God take us next? What will our blind eyes be able to see? What wonderful grace, gifts of understanding, and love will God share with us? We cannot imagine the outpouring love that God has planned for us!

No eye has ever seen,
No ear has ever heard,
You cannot imagine
What greatness and wonders
that God has in store for you.

1 Corinthians 2:8-10

Prayer is a Stairway to Heaven

On my journey with God I have traveled very far from where I started.
God has carried me a long, long way. But God the "Potter" is not finished with me yet! I am still a work in progress. God's fingerprints are all over me but, I still have a long, long, long… way to go!

This journey will be filled with hurts and pain,
This journey with God is hard to explain.

I don’t know where my journey with God will take me.
But I know that my God will never forsake me.

Where God takes me I do not care.
For God’s outpouring love He shares.
